Product design for teams shipping software

We design the product and the story that sells it. Doing both changes the work: a team that has to explain an interface to buyers designs one that is easy to explain.

Two kinds of product

For your product

Software your customers use every day

  • Research sized to the decision
  • UX and UI for web and mobile
  • A design system your engineers can extend
  • Front-end code, built by the designers

For your sales team

Tools that move deals forward

  • ROI and pricing calculators
  • Product explorers and configurators
  • Customer portals
  • AR and visual tools

What we do

Research, sized to the decision

Enough to answer the question in front of you. Sometimes six interviews, sometimes your support tickets.

UX and UI for web and mobile

The screens and everything around them: states, the empty case, the error case, four hundred rows.

Design systems your team can extend

Tokens, components and rules, so an engineer can build a screen we never drew.

Prototypes real enough to test

Real enough to test with people outside your company and learn something new.

Front-end code, built by the designers

When quality gets lost in handoff, we write the front end ourselves.

The sales presentation, too

The team that designed the product builds the presentation that sells it.

We already have a product. Do you start over?

Almost never. What you shipped, by hand or with AI, is the most valuable research you have, because real people have used it and told you where it hurts. We keep what works and fix how it looks, reads and flows, beside your team.

Do you design tools for our buyers, too?

Yes: ROI and pricing calculators, product explorers, configurators and customer portals, like the AR tool that maps Vivint’s camera coverage onto a customer’s own house.

Can our engineers build against what you hand over?

That is the test we design for. The deliverable is tokens, components and the rules that hold them together, documented well enough that a screen we never drew still looks like ours.

What does it cost?

Product projects start at $5,000, and they vary widely: the price depends on how much of the product is in scope, how much research it needs and how much of the front end we build. We quote each one after a short call.

How long does it take?

Weeks rather than months for a first engagement, depending on how much of the product is in scope. Most product work then continues as an ongoing relationship, because a design system needs maintaining as the product grows.
